Love this store, with associated newsletters and vlogs. Only issue that unfortunately will stop me reordering is the large import tax to Ireland. But can't blame this company for Brexit.

Chaos Pendulum was an excellent kit and good value. I also ordered two other items which were plastic and I thought were very overpriced (£14 each) for what they were and had the appearance of a mass produced item with very poor packaging in Japanese and nothing in English to tell you about the product other than the video on Grand-Illusions. They were intended as a Christmas present but I would need to tell the intended children to watch a video to expplain what they were about. Not ideal.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the Cylinder in the Box. The optical illusion - which we think is really rather good - works simply when you view the object from one side and then the other. We bring import them directly from Japan, and I must admit we had not thought to include instructions. It would mean repackaging them, which would push the price up slightly. Are the children you plan to give them to old enough to accept the challenge of finding out how they work?

Maxwell's precessing top very interesting and instructive, and Tim's demonstration piques one's curiosity. I have found it difficult to get the top to move through as many cycles as Tim's shows; perhaps one third as many is the best I have yet achieved. Moreover, unlike his silent top, mine makes rather a grinding noise in operation. I have tried to alleviate this with light application of oil, but this did not improve matters. Any tips or additional advice from the experts welcome!

Hi - Page 11 of the instructions shows how the pointed end at the bottom of the spindle should rest in the dimple in the base (or journal as it is called). If the top is not spinning for long as it should, and is also making a noise, this is probably where the problem lies. I find it is sometimes helpful to hold the whole top upside down in order to make sure that the brass top is properly seated in the dimple.

The delivery to the Netherlands was fast, in just 3 days.
The product is up to expectations and the handling, customs and delivery by DHL went well.

So despite the maybe higher costs due to brexit etc, I'll stick to grand-illusions whenever they have the product I am looking for. Their communication and fast response are great.

Overall the service is always good from Grand illusions, however, this time I have a minor quibble,- one of the spinning tops- Sp!n top had come out of its plastic container which was slightly crushed, although the top itself was fine, perhaps it should have been put in an extra box or wrapping for protection? the other items were fine.

A slightly suboptimal recommendation here as the incorrect merchandise was initially shipped. However, the discrepancy was put right satisfactorily within a week or two, at no extra cost to me.

The reversing goggles are great fun! However they require a *lot*of assembly: they are really more of a diy goggles kit so people should be prepared to have to spend a bit of time preparing them. It would be good if they were supplied with the epoxy needed to hold the prisms in place, and the enamel paint to cover the open faces. But once they are together they are fun to play with - we will be using tem with psychology and architecture students to teach them first-hand about vision and space.

They do require some assembly. I will have another look at the description to see if we need to make that clearer.

There are issues around selling glue, which I suspect is why the kits do not come with glue already supplied.

Not quite what I was expecting. I though the robot in its head would be hidden at first and only revealed later when one twisted its head or something - but I’m still glad to have it to add to my small collection. Best regards to Tim btw.
